The award-winning Ericsson Multiscreen TV solution features the industry’s broadest portfolio of open, flexible, and pre-integrated products. They enable service providers and content owners to harness greater efficiencies, launch new, differentiating services and grow revenues. The solution allows operators to provide their consumers with the latest-generation of personalized and interactive TV experiences on any screen.
The Ericsson Multiscreen TV solution is based on pre-integrated products from Ericsson and selected partners.
The solution can either be offered as a side-by-side or integrated service delivery. The side-by-side offering, featuring existing components in a personalized TV value chain, gives the operator one solution that can address any screen, whether a 3G mobile, broadband internet device or a “traditional” cable, IP, satellite or terrestrial TV. The integrated offering creates a seamless multiscreen experience with a single back-office system, enabling content delivery to any device, regardless of access technology.
State-of-the-art, personalized consumer experience
The Ericsson Multiscreen TV solution addresses the growing consumer demand for a much broader range of services while offering a unified consumer experience that offers greater control and interactivity. It combines the full features of IPTV, Mobile TV and Web TV with a user interface that has a common look and feel. The offering also fully integrates fixed line and wireless media for the first time.
Future-proof solution
The Ericsson Multiscreen TV solution is based on pre-integrated products from Ericsson and selected partners, and with our worldwide Professional Services organization, Ericsson can be the prime integrator in delivering a Multiscreen TV solution that meets customer needs. We embrace standards that enable solution sourcing from multiple vendors and thus the reuse of existing equipment, which can provide lower total cost of ownership.
The introduction of Ericsson’s new Multi-platform Stream Processors family brings advanced multiscreen services to the operator’s headend through large-scale transcoding and preparation of linear content (including adaptive bit-rate streaming) for distribution over managed and unmanaged networks. These families of products complement, and help unify, the multiscreen ecosystem, allowing seamless end-to-end integration and delivery of content. This truly means delivery of any content to any device.
Open and flexible
The increasing complexity of adding additional platforms is daunting for service providers. In an environment with new competitors arising daily, operators must be able to introduce new, compelling services to their consumers. Utilizing an architecture that enables an operator to provide a compelling experience, while also delivering and maintaining that service in a cost-effective manner, is the core tenet of the Ericsson end-to-end approach. We believe that operators must be able to leverage modular components into an open-standards-based architecture that enables an operator to quickly launch and maintain new services.
