Our high capacity SGSN-MME includes a wide range of customer requested features and has achieved excellent in-service performance (ISP) figures during high traffic conditions.
We have unparalleled experience in the deployment and operation of commercial LTE/EPC networks. We launched the world's first commercial LTE/EPC network in Europe and the world's largest network in the US. We have built and are operating more than 300 Packet Core networks worldwide including the SGSN-MME.
The SGSN-MME supports multi-access, GSM, WCDMA, LTE and interworks with Wi-Fi and CDMA. The SGSN is upgraded to a SGSN-MME Mobility Management Entity for Evolved Packet Core network through a smooth software upgrade. The SGSN-MME is evolved continuously to incorporate new functionalities, which helps operators’ new business opportunities and cost reductions. This includes innovations such as:
Building on the proven software and functionality, the new SGSN-MME state-of-the-art MkX platform on the Ericsson Blade System extends the capabilities to meet even the most aggressive traffic growth predictions. It provides superior scalability, supporting up to 36 million users per node and up to 2300 million users when deployed in a pooled configuration. With high capacity, scalability, small footprint (0.24 square meters of floor space) and low power consumption in our SGSN-MME, you can optimize operations and manage the increasing volume of traffic from mobile broadband.
Ericsson’s virtual SGSN-MME is an evolution of the SGSN-MME for native networks. This means that it perfectly well can interact with the native network. This is critical in cases of overlaid network as well as hybrid network i.e. during the transition from native to cloud environments. It provides full SW and HW decoupling that allows third-party HW support. Moreover, it is entirely based on Open source standards and forms a natural part of Ericsson Virtual EPC and Cloud system.
We were the first company to make the evolution towards a flat IP-based network architecture. Today Ericsson SGSN-MME is the world's most widely deployed SGSN/MME.
Improving IoT Device Battery Life with Network Power Saving Mode for LTE and GSM Devices
Bouygues Telecom chose to change its nodes in favor of Ericsson SGSN-MME with multi-access technology. Optimization and control of smartphone signaling was introduced as part of the solution, resulting in a 98 percent reduction in paging.
A success story highlighting SoftBank Mobile’s use of Ericsson’s EPC solution including SGSN-MME Smart and Adaptive Paging functionality to optimize signaling by 70% in RAN and EPC.
Together with SoftBank we have demonstrated the innovative Mobility-based Policy functionality to improve user experience and secure efficient radio and core network performance.
