Date: Wednesday, July 9 2003Ericsson today announced it has been awarded further contracts by China Unicom to expand their CDMA2000 1X network in Jiangsu and Liaoning provinces, China. Ericsson currently supplies its total CDMA2000 1X network solution to China Unicom in Sichuan, Jiangsu, Henan, Anhui, Yunnan, Heilongjiang and Liaoning provinces. In addition, Ericsson supplies a multi-access network based on its CDMA2000 1X network and Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) solutions for China Unicom in Sichuan province. "Our CDMA2000 solution provides China Unicom with a future proof solution with seamless migration to the next phases of CDMA2000 1xEV and beyond to all-IP." Deployment in Liaoning and Jiangsu is currently in progress and the expected commercial launch is in Q3 2003.
