Unified Communications- Meeting enterprise needs to mobilize
If enterprise is the engine of the global economy, then communications - and increasingly, Unified Communications - is the engine of the modern enterprise. The needs of the successful organization - ever-improving efficiency, productivity and customer service, together with strong business processes and cost control - must be served to enable it to stay ahead in a competitive environment.

Ericsson approaches Unified Communications from a mobile perspective. To make Unified Communications efficient and user-friendly, mobility is absolutely essential - and so, therefore, is the integration of the operator and enterprise domain - to enable mobile professionals to communicate wherever they are, using the most suitable medium and device. It's what Ericsson calls Mobile Unified Communications: embracing voice and data, fuelled by broadband IP and multimedia technologies, to enable collaboration between employees, customers and partners.

Ericsson offer business users the flexibility to work and access colleagues and information anywhere, using a variety of terminals. We enhance productivity by supporting business processes and integrating enterprise processes, applications and resources. We deliver a secure, well-managed and cost-effective communications environment. And we enable companies to build on existing investments and take a step-by-step approach when implementing new solutions.

Enabling future enterprise communications

Mobile Unified Communications is about driving business process efficiency, improving collaboration and providing real-time access to information - anywhere, anytime. And presence is the key functionality in this new communication paradigm. Ericsson's view is that presence information needs to be aggregated not only from employees' Personal Information Management (PIM) applications, but also using presence information from mobile operator networks which, for instance, can provide the preferred media and device a user wants to be contacted on. The enterprise will be more efficient overall if pervasive presence information is added to the collaborative communication environment.
Ericsson's focus on IMS will provide a total communications solution for enterprises, of which both business users and public users are a part. It is about a shared multimedia experience involving an organization and its customers, suppliers and other stakeholders.

Ericsson's goal is to be the prime driver in the 'all-communicating' world - a world where powerful communication tools help people live easier, richer lives. We regard enterprise communications as central to achieving this goal, backed by state-of-the-art expertise in IMS.

Ericsson is an undisputed communications market and technology leader. Through our continuing technology leadership and innovative solutions provided in more than 140 countries, we are shaping the future of mobile and broadband Internet services. Ericsson's systems connect about 40 per cent of all mobile calls. We are one of the few companies able to provide true end-to-end solutions.
Ericsson is able to build on our early involvement in enterprise mobility using our broad IP portfolio and strength in triple convergence: fixed-mobile, voice-data and public-private.

This requires continued technology leadership through innovation as well as the ability to turn research in to large-scale realization. Our vision requires business partnerships with leading players in the industry to innovate in the development of new business. It requires understanding of human needs and a strong drive to spark the creation of new communication markets.

Through our Mobile Unified Communications strategy, we are leading developments in mobile infrastructure and driving forward new standards. We are adapting IMS architecture and components to enterprise solutions, which will deliver the all-IP enterprise of the future.
