Among all the exhibitions and events that Ericsson Microwave Systems will attend during 2006, CIMI will be the major event. "The exhibition will be held in Enköping, Sweden, from May 16 to 18." This year Ericsson will introduce the new concepts for "Camp Protection" and "Secure Event".
Both concepts are based on the same idea. Applying the knowledge and solutions from the Network Based Defense (NBF) trials and studies in Sweden we can help operator to get the best possible situational picture in real time. The shared situational picture can be used as an example for Camp protection or supervision of big sport events.
"At CIMI we plan to bring the ideas behind NBF into the commercial market and emphasize how government agencies t can co-operate in common networks. From our work with NBF together with the Swedish Armed Force we have a solid knowledge of both the architecture behind the networks as well as the service oriented architecture concept. This is a key message that we will present to all authorities attending the seminars which run in parallel with the exhibition, says Nils-Olov Dahlman, project leader for he Ericsson participation at CIMI."
Ericsson proudly present several speakers at the seminars. For instance Dr Martin Gustavsson who will give a speech regarding the Gotsam project. The overall topic for all of Ericsson seminar presentations is the benefits of co-operation between government agencies and the network concept.
At the Ericsson exhibition stand visitors will see demonstrations on how camps can be protected. The demonstrations includes information from the weapon locating system ARTHUR and Air Defense search radar GIRAFFE working together with equipment from the Swedish Armed Force and third part suppliers, in this case Lenco. The whole idea is to show how auhorities can share a common picture in real time. Lenco contributes with a Common Operating Decision System (CODS) that is a high resolution visualization system of the common situation picture.
"We want to show that we are a trustworthy solutions supplier. We do not only supply products, within the selected areas, but also offer entire surveillance and security solutions that are backed up by integration services. Camp protection is one example of an Ericsson package solution that will help an operator to increase it's capability to protect own forces, important for instance in international operations, says Johnny Lundberg market communication manager at Ericsson."
CIMI has grown over the years and today the exhibition has an international touch with a large number of foreign visitors, delegations and exhibitors. It is the Swedish Armed Force, together with the authorities for total defense and the industry that has initiated the event that occurs every third year.
Two other large events for Ericsson during the year are Eurosatory in Paris at the 12-16 of June and Farnborough outside of London at the 17-23 of July.
At Eurosatory, which is an exhibition for land, land-air defense and security, Ericsson will focus on traditional Defense products like ARTHUR and GIRAFFE AMB but also Command & Control systems together with network solutions.
Some demonstrations from the CIMI-concept will be shown. It is the first time for Ericsson to participate at Eurosatory.

At the Farnborough international Airshow Ericsson will continue to show the concept for Camp Protection and Secure Events.
In addition to this we will also present the Airborne Early Warning & Control (AEW&C) system (ERIEYE) and the multimode fighter radar (PS-05) that is in operation in the Swedish aircraft JAS 39 Gripen.
