Måns Burman, Director, Business Development, IPX Asia Pacific launched IPX services in China at the Wireless Entertainment Festival 2007 Summit held on May 15-16 in Beijing. Burman said, "It is with great joy we today launch Ericsson IPX in China, one of the leading and most exciting markets for mobile entertainment. Ericsson IPX is a key part in Ericsson's value added services proposition and is a vital component in the Multimedia offering which helps Ericsson to satisfy the needs of Operators & Services Providers as they move towards richer content experiences."
IPX is connected to China Mobile and China Unicom, and provide SMS MT and subscription charging capabilities (Payment) as well as Messaging. China is the world's most populous country with 1.3 billion people and a 450 million mobile subscriber base, it is a very exciting market and China is currently experiencing a high subscriber growth and strong consumption of mobile content services.
In Indonesia, IPX rapidly connected to the three largest GSM operators, Telkomsel, Indosat, and Excelcom. These three operators represent 85% of the total mobile subscribers in Indonesia, the fourth most populous country in the world, with 230 million people spread out over 17,000 islands. Telecommunication penetration is still below 20%, which represents enormous growth potential for the growth of mobile content services given that the growth of mobile subscribers has been 30%, every year for the past three years! This positive trend is expected to continue over the next few years. IPX plans to expand coverage in Indonesia throughout 2007.
Ericsson IPX is proud to be able to offer connections in a further two countries to all our customers worldwide and to bring them the benefits of these large and growing markets.
