Ericsson's W25 provides full service broadband over HSPA. The W25 supports simultaneous voice and data communication as well as fax and USB for printer and mass storage.

Urban Gillström, head of Ericsson Enterprise, accepted the award at the Broadband World Forum in Berlin. He said: "The market is looking for wireless broadband, and Ericsson is serving this market through HSPA through networks and end-user devices and one such example is the W25."

Fixed wireless terminals provide high-speed data and voice services to small office, home office and residential users. The benefit of fixed wireless terminals is that they provide several connectivity options to the user, either wired or wireless. Additionally fixed wireless terminals enable the possibility of simultaneous HSPA data access for multiple users.

Most analysts agree that fixed wireless access will be a key component in the rollout of mobile broadband. It's seen as the ideal technology for accessing large areas and providing premium service to residential and business users cost-efficiently.

For many countries with limited or no fixed infrastructure, fixed wireless access will prove the ultimate solution. Millions of users, who previously only had limited communication possibilities will be able to enjoy high speed Internet access and voice communication.

"Sales have taken off in the developing world and in emerging markets where the infrastructure is not yet in place to support fixed or hard line communication," says Gillström.

The W25 is also a great device for providing coverage in remote parts of the United States, Australia our outside of major cities in the Middle East, where HSPA coverage is being deployed, he says.

"With devices like the W25, your coverage is complete," he says.
