Sweden and China invest millions in mobile research

A total of SEK 45 million is being invested in the Swedish-Chinese university research program on mobile technologies “IMT-Advanced and Beyond”.

 The Swedish Governmental Agency for Innovation Systems, VINNOVA, and the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) are investing approximately SEK 45 million in a joint university research program. The focus of the three-year program is mobile technologies of the future.

 

The seven different cooperation projects involved in the program will receive approximately equal financing from the Swedish and Chinese Governments, and will cover areas such as algorithms, protocols, coding, modulation and antennas.

 

Olle Viktorsson, who is responsible for external research relations at Ericsson Research, says:
“This extensive cooperation between top Swedish and Chinese universities within a strategically important research area offers great hope of achieving ground-breaking results.”
