Under the deal announced July 24, and described as a “milestone” by Ingemar Naeve, head of the Telefónica GCA and of Market Unit Iberia, Ericsson will provide business consulting and systems integration services for Telefónica’s Latin American operations, both fixed and mobile, allowing the operator to improve control of its revenue streams.
Luis Miguel Gilpérez, wireless executive director of Telefónica Latin America Group, says Ericsson is “the perfect choice” to be prime integrator for this complex transformation project.
“As a long-term partner, Ericsson understands our specific needs and has detailed knowledge of our business processes,” Gilpérez says, adding that the project under Ericsson’s management will provide Telefónica with a competitive edge.
Naeve, for his part, expressed satisfaction with Ericsson’s long-running partnership with global customer Telefónica. “This milestone contract reaffirms Ericsson’s position as the leading provider of telecom services and underlines the importance of the prime integrator role in driving and managing these kinds of complex transformation projects,” he says.
