Behzad Farmand, Portfolio Marketing Manager for Connected Home at Ericsson, says: “Consumers are looking for simplicity, convenience, and cost-effective solutions to manage their increasingly complex home environments. They want to share experiences anywhere, any time and on any screen, in a convenient way.”
Connected Home helps them do this. “The solution makes it possible for operators to increase the customer base and revenue, while reducing costs by offering attractive multi-play services such as IPTV, remote access and multimedia telephony. It is a complete, end-to-end managed solution for Full Service Broadband,” Farmand says.
At Barcelona, Ericsson demonstrates the Connected Home Gateway, the core of its Connected Home solution, using open standards to link the telecom and consumer electronic industries.
“Visitors to Ericsson’s stand in Hall 6 can experience how consumers access their home entertainment devices and digital content using the Connected Home solution. Through different kinds of home settings, using commercial technologies available in the market, we demonstrate how to control content from the home with a mobile device,” Farmand says.
He says consumers are willing to consolidate their home automation, media and communication services (telephony, internet, and TV) if there is clear value in terms of price, convenience and security. They also face increasing complexity, managing their personal content at home and being able to access it remotely. These needs give operators a great opportunity, enabling the consumer to use media across multiple platforms.
