IMS - Core network products

Building blocks for smarter networks

Ericsson IMS Core Network Products are the building blocks of Ericsson’s pioneering IMS solution. Based on IMS standards, they ensure interoperability and contribute to long-term cost reduction.

Offering description

Ericsson’s IMS Core Network Products are offered under the business solution umbrella IMS Common System or, in some cases, as stand-alone products. Included are:

  • Core nodes, which provide the infrastructure that supervises and controls the IMS network and manages the routing and sessions in the network
  • Service enablers, which perform vital functions that can be used by all applications, thereby offering a cost-efficient way to introduce new applications
  • Interworking nodes that tie the IMS network into its environment.
These core network products form the basis of IMS solutions capable of supporting multiple applications in a fixed, mobile or converged-network infrastructure.

Ericsson’s end-to-end IMS offering includes support nodes for provisioning, management and charging, as well as professional services, applications and device-client support, all based on extensive experience and in-depth telecom knowledge.

Evolve the network

IMS enables end-to-end services independent of access type, for example WCDMA, GSM, fixed broadband, WLAN or CDMA2000. Services are delivered in a standardized, well-structured way, making the most of layered architecture.

At the same time, IMS provides a future-proof architecture that simplifies and speeds up service creation while supporting differentiation and building brand value.

This is done by creating new, appealing service packages that combine standardized communications, such as voice or messaging, with non-standard services and applications from operators and third parties.

IMS Core Network Products enable convergence between fixed and mobile environments.

Ericsson strongly supports and adheres to IMS standards from bodies such as 3GPP, OMA and TISPAN, to ensure interoperability between operators, network types and devices.

Making networks efficient

The modern, horizontal architecture of IMS provides a simplified cost-effective way of handling functionality for features such as charging, presence, group and list management, and routing and provisioning, providing a clear advantage over traditional vertical architectures with overlapping functionalities.

The Ericsson Telecom Server Platform offers the availability, reliability, and scalability expected from a telecom provider. Ericsson’s offering ensures interoperability, quality of service and security – the key features for attracting mass-market uptake.
