Broadband Access Nodes FOR Operators

A complete fixed broadband access portfolio

Ericsson’s Broadband Access Nodes, based on the innovative all-IP EDA portfolio, ensure flexible, cost-effective roll out of fixed broadband including VDSL2, fiber point-to-point, GPON and telephony.

Key benefits

The Ericsson Broadband Access Node portfolio is Ethernet based and built on experience gained from the delivery of the widely deployed and award-winning IP DSLAMs of the Ericsson EDA product family.

Part of Ericsson’s Full Service Broadband architecture, the portfolio is fully compatible with the all-IP and softswitch-based architecture being adopted by most operators today.

The Broadband Access Node portfolio comprises:

  • ADSL, ADSL2, ADSL2+
  • VDSL2
  • SHDSL2
  • POTS
  • GPON switch capability (Gigabit Passive Optical Network)
  • Fiber-To-The-Home (GPON or fiber point-to-point)
  • Category 5 to the home
  • IP MSAN (Multi Service Access Node) providing broadband access and POTS telephony over the same Ethernet uplink

Ericsson’s Broadband Access Node portfolio is the most scalable on the market, addressing existing networks as well as paths to network modernization and delivery of multiple services to residential and business users.

The portfolio includes the Ericsson EDA 1200, EDA 1500 and EDA 2500 product lines as well as integrated Site Solutions.

The EDA 1500 GPON system, with the highest capacity on the market, and the environmental hardened EDA 1200 VDSL2 solution, suitable for remote outdoor deployment, provide the capacity, scale and robustness required by mass-market IPTV and other IP-based services delivered over fixed broadband infrastructure.

Generate new revenue

Greater numbers of users are demanding even more from their communications. They want to bring voice, video and high-speed data together in highly enriched, personalized, interactive and on-demand services.

The Broadband Access Node portfolio, based on the Ericsson EDA product family, includes features that support the capacity (non-blocking systems) and quality of service needed to deliver these demanding, high-speed multimedia services.

With broadband networks based on Ericsson EDA access nodes, operators can capture new revenue streams confident that they can deliver the reliable, high-quality experience that ensures long-term income.

Complete offering

Ericsson is the ideal business partner for wireline network transformation to IP, with extensive experience of deploying large multi-service networks and unrivalled global and local presence and support.

Taking an end-to-end approach, Ericsson can support operators during every stage of their network transformation, including supply of both active components (whether GPON or fiber point-to-point) and passive components such as cables, ducts, fiber and blowing tools, through to services for planning, design, roll out, civil works, and managed services.

Supported Solutions

The EDA portfolio is an important part of Ericsson’s Deep Fiber Access and IPTV Network Infrastructure solutions.

Deep Fiber Access is a key component behind high-speed internet and an efficient IPTV network infrastructure. Deep Fiber Access can extend all the way to the user or enhance the service delivery capabilities of an existing ADSL network by extending fiber closer to the user. Ericsson’s end-to-end Deep Fiber Access solution comprises active electronic equipment (fiber point-to-point or GPON with and option of using VDSL2 in the last drop); passive fiber; and a complete range of services for planning, deploying and managing the network.

IPTV Network Infrastructure is Ericsson’s complete broadband network optimized for IPTV delivery and for connecting the home environment with the back-end service network. It is designed to cost-effectively support traffic uptake from development of high-definition TV and unicast IPTV services, such as on-demand and time-shift TV. Ericsson's telecom-grade IPTV solution is the first in the industry to comply with the IMS-based Open IPTV Forum architecture. This enables operators to offer services such as chat, broadcast reminders and parental control to capture this emerging market segment.
