Ericsson’s SmartEdge Multi-service Edge Routers (MSERs) products offer highly efficient solutions to enable new revenue generating services such as IPTV, Video-on-Demand and interactive online gaming. SmartEdge MSERs offer multiple functionalities at the edge of IP networks that are necessary to offer these services.
Our SM 480 Metro Ethernet Service Transport platform is helping accelerate the convergence of fixed and mobile networks. Working in concert with SmartEdge and SM 480 products, service provisioning and billing are simplified by the NetOp Policy Suite.
Cut costs
As a single integrated unit, the SmartEdge MSER platform offer a number of functions that would normally require multiple devices; it integrates the Ethernet aggregation, IP routing and subscriber management functions that would typically be found in three separate network devices. It also provides support for Mobile IP, P2P traffic analysis and management, and Session Border Gateway functionalities. As such, it reduces operational effort, and the associated costs, and simplifies the deployment of new services in a controllable and reliable way.
The SM 480 Metro Ethernet Service Transport platform is designed to simplify network architectures, lower network costs, unify and accelerate fixed and mobile convergence.
The NetOp Policy Suite is integrated with the SmartEdge product families and simplifies deployment of revenue generating multi-play services such as IPTV, video on demand, VoIP, and high speed Internet services. NetOp Element Management System helps reduce operations costs through automated configuration, provisioning, alarm and fault management and supports multiple management methods and protocols.
Grow revenue with attractive services
Service providers understand that maximizing revenue and income from their subscribers goes hand in hand with offering new services. The key opportunity lies in capitalizing on the personalized and interactive nature of broadband and IP.
IPTV and video services are at the forefront of many service providers’ plans for new service offerings, and are the key drivers in the current wave of infrastructure upgrades. SmartEdge MSER operates at the edge of the IP backbone delivering the traffic-intensive applications that enable service providers to offer lucrative applications in Full Service Broadband.
Drive efficiency and manage risks
Ericsson's offerings take into consideration an operator's chosen networking technologies, migration path and traffic requirements now and in the future. Designed with efficiency in mind, our IP Network solutions are pre-tested and validated, enabling reduced time-to-market and cost savings while supporting a full network migration.
Carrier-Class Operating System
SEOS is a carrier-class, modular Operating System that runs on SmartEdge and SM platforms. It represents the natural evolution of operating systems used in the carrier-class networking equipment. It is a distributed operating system that supports multiple powerful processors, and has been designed with a common infrastructure. SEOS has been designed to be highly resilient and ensure 99.999% (or better) system availability, for a virtually non-stop network operation. SEOS ensures survival of the system in the presence of single points of failures, and rapid restart after the problem has been resolved. SEOS supports the necessary features that enable continuous operation in the forwarding (user) plane, even in the presence of a fault in the control plane.
