- Ericsson will be responsible for the whole end-to-end systems integration for Telefônica | Vivo’s new TV and video platform
- Telefônica | Vivo reinforces innovation on services for customers in Brazil
Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) has been chosen by Telefônica | Vivo as prime integrator for an end-to-end systems integration to the operator’s new video platform, which will enable them to offer IPTV and video on demand. Under the agreement, Ericsson is also responsible for the platform implementation and tools integration for the operational management.
Eduardo Ricotta, Vice President of Ericsson Latin America and the Caribbean, says: “The Pay TV market in Brazil has reached another milestone with 15 million subscriptions. Based on market potential, operators are focused on offering differentiate services in this competitive environment. We are proud to once again support Telefônica | Vivo in offering a rich experience to its customers.
The results of Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) ConsumerLab's annual study – presented in the TV & Video Consumer Trend Report 2012 – reveal that although viewing behaviors and demands are changing, only 8 percent of consumers say they will reduce their TV subscriptions in the future. In fact, instead of looking to cut costs, consumers are willing to pay more for an enhanced viewing experience: 41 percent of consumers say they are willing to pay for TV and video content in HD.
This new contract reinforces Ericsson’s leadership on the systems integration market. With this new platform, Telefônica | Vivo will be able to launch advanced video services to its customers in Brazil.
