Roaming in an Unbundled Fixed-Mobile Convergent World (pdf)
Abstract:
Fixed-mobile convergence has been investigated in the European MUSE project from an unbundled fixed network perspective. The investigation has shown that the application of roaming in a highly decomposed business role model requires adaptations in the way authentication and authorization, IP address assignment, and policy management are to be realized. Moreover it has impact on the number of types of roaming agreements. In this paper, a high level overview is given of the fixed-mobile architecture developed within MUSE and the impact of roaming on the distribution of network functionality over business roles.
