It took 100 years to establish 1 billion fixed phone lines, but only 20 years to generate 5 billion mobile subscriptions. And at the end of 2011, mobile broadband subscriptions will hit the 1 billion mark. With this, cloud services are gaining in importance.
What challenges and opportunities are we facing – as individuals and consumers or as part of the ICT industry – when everything that benefits from an internet connection will have one? What business implications does this have for network vendors, application developers, telecom operators and software companies? What new services will we see?
