The industry loses a great visionary
Steve Jobs’ death marks a sad day for the industry – and for the millions of people whose relationship with technology and devices has been profoundly changed by his visionary thinking.
Ericsson President and CEO Hans Vestberg said in a statement: “Our industry has lost a great visionary and inspirer. With his innovative thinking, Steve Jobs was part of creating the massive growth in smartphone usage we are seeing today.”
Part of what made Apple and devices so successful was the focus on the user. Jobs had a vision to make the device relevant for all media; he looked beyond the computer and took devices and the user interface to a new level. Simply put, Jobs worked to make technology personal.
Jobs was indeed a great visionary – already compared by some to the likes of Edison and Ford. The Networked Society would have been very different without him.
