What do we offer?
Interested in joining our Graduate scheme?

We offer a development plan that will challenge you and give you the opportunity to show your potential.
Ericsson is committed to providing members of staff with the tools to meet a changing business environment, as well as individual competence and development needs to support the goals and aspirations of our employees

The Ericsson Graduate scheme is no exception to this and is designed to give you a structured and flexible training programme that provides the requisite competence to perform your role.

Your development

The scheme primarily focuses on developing your Human, Business and Technical competence - the three areas that Ericsson has identified as key to making your career a success.

Human - the scheme provides a variety of 'soft skills' training in areas where you will need expertise. You will already have some of these skills to a greater or lesser extent and the scheme will focus you on developing and applying these in your daily work life. Examples of this are presentation, influencing, negotiation and innovations skills.

Business - whilst you should strive to be an expert in your area, it is essential to be aware of the 'bigger picture'. As such the scheme will give you an insight into the telecommunications market and briefings from the people who drive the strategy of Ericsson forward. Additionally, the scheme focuses on providing you with a thorough understanding of the roles of the different departments/functions within an engineering organisation such as Ericsson Ltd, and how the departments interrelate

Technical - whatever the area you choose to join, you will have a technical training path designed for you to ensure you are gaining technical expertise in the areas that you need to know about. This will be done in conjunction with your manager and your broader development plan.

The Scheme

Overall, the scheme lasts approximately 18 months, although your individual performance and speed of development will determine the actual date of promotion through the stages to your first substantive post. A variety of learning methods are used from presentations and on the job training through to web based learning.

The scheme is divided into 3 phases of 6 months each.

Phase 1 (September 2008 to February 2009)

The scheme begins with a formal induction for each graduate which introduces you to your manager, department and an overview of the experience you will gain during that phase. You will also attend a formal induction course welcoming you to the Company
The first 6 months of the scheme is designed to give you a broad knowledge of Ericsson and the telecommunications marketplace in general. During this time you will gain an overview knowledge of the business sectors and support functions in Guildford, Newbury & Basingstoke while at the same time completing both on and off the job training, including web-based training and video presentations. You will also begin your technical and professional training path.

Phase 2 (March 2009 to August 2009)

The second phase consolidates the knowledge gained in Phase 1 and provides more in-depth knowledge and skills specific to the individual roles by way of directed learning objectives and project involvement. A second technical training path will commence if appropriate and further consolidation of Phase 1.

Phase 3 (September 2009 to February 2010)

Phase 3 will consolidate the first 12 months and include the final stages of human and business skill training. You will be introduced to self-driven learning as you complete your final graduate training phases.

On Completion

Following completion of the scheme, you have the opportunity to continue to drive your own career path. With several members of senior management having joined as graduates, it really is possible to go on and make a huge impact.
