Distributed Knowledge Systems and Techniques for Advanced Network Management (Distorm)

Ericsson R&D Ireland in Athlone, is responsible for the global Ericsson network management portfolio and through direct support and linkage with Ericsson Research in Sweden will serve as a host for this Transfer of Knowledge program.

The research department's focus is in the interdisciplinary area of network management and we have produced more than 28 internationally peer reviewed publications over the last 3 years, have delivered many product innovations and concept demonstrations and are leading the standardisation of distributed techniques for management systems.

We propose a new vision for network management based on highly autonomous, secure hyper-distributed systems operating on dynamic semantic models of the network environment.

Distributed computing (P2P, Grid) and Knowledge engineering (data mining, machine learning, ontologies) will be critical for the development such management systems.
