KIGALI: Ericsson and MTN Rwanda are launching an initiative that will offer quality education for underprivileged students who previously did not have access to technology in education. The initiative called Connect To Learn will use the latest technology and will run in two Rwanda secondary schools in partnership with the Earth Institute at Columbia University and Millennium Promise.
Ericsson today announced that Effective April 1, 2013, Fredrik Jejdling is appointed Head of Region sub-Saharan Africa. Ericsson today announced that it has been selected by Unitel, leading provider of telecommunications services in Angola, as key supplier of its next-generation 4G/LTE network.
The December 2012 Boston Consulting Group (BCG) report titled SMARTer2020,revealed that ICT can cut global greenhouse gas emissions by 16.5%, saving up to $1.9 trillion USD annually. The potential reduction is more than 16% higher than the estimated saving in a study conducted in 2008. The research identified Ericsson’s mobile money as a potential ICT-enabled solution for emission reduction.
Ericsson is a corporate partner of the Social Good Summit 2012, a three-day event held in New York from 22 to 24 September.
