Congratulations, you are invited for an interview with us at Ericsson – we look forward getting to know you better! Before the interview, we would like to tell you about our recruitment process, the interview itself and give you a chance to get to know us better as well.

The interview(s)

The interview rounds are different depending on who you meet.

Your interview with the recruiter focuses on your behavioral skills.  Here, you might be asked domain-specific questions, but we will not go into technical details, as we want to get a broader picture of your technical skill-sets. So, prepare to describe your role in a pedagogical way. If you move forward in the recruitment process, the next step is to meet the manager for an interview.

The second interview with the manager focuses more on your domain-specific skills and how that is related to the open position.

Regardless of whether you have applied for a technical or non-technical role you are always a subject for behavioral-based questions, which means we may ask you questions based upon real-life experiences. For example, “Give us an example of when you took part of a project. Who were involved? What was the project about? Which role did you take? What was the toughest part of the project? What was the result of the project ? “

The intent behind these questions is to understand how you acted, behaved, and felt in those situations. Please remember, there are no right or wrong answers, but rather this gives us an opportunity to get to know you better.

First impression matters

The early bird catches the worm!

And, when it comes to first impressions, this is especially true.

An interview with us is either face-to-face or via Skype. If your interview is over Skype, please make sure Skype for Business is downloaded on your computer/ laptop/ tab/ mobile and test that your microphone is working fine. You can log in without a Skype Account. However, you need to download the software and attend the meeting through the link attached in the interview invitation email.

If you have a face-to-face interview with the manager, they will meet you at the reception/lobby. Please sign in at the reception or service desk for entry.

No matter how hard you prepare and take the earlier train life can throw hurdles sometimes. That is more than ok. We understand – we have all been there, waiting for that train to arrive, only for it to be canceled. Just make sure that you know who you are going to meet and please contact the concerned person and inform in advance if you know you are going to be late for the interview due to some reason.

Know thy self

Perhaps not in the Shakespearean sense but if you are well prepared, you will be able to relax more and just be yourself. So here are a few tips on how you can know yourself well before going into an interview:

a)     Read your CV and prepare to speak about your current role, noteworthy projects, etcetera.

b)     Read the job ad carefully before attending an interview. That way you can get a good understanding of what competencies and skills are desirable for the role.

c)      This is where you need to put your skills and competencies in relation to the role in focus. Ask yourself: do you fit the profile perfectly, or do you have a learning curve or improvement areas for any of the desired requirements stated in the ad? If you are aiming for a gold star or two, you can also consider whether you bring other skills to the table and if they are of value to the role or the interview.

Something you can be sure about is that we will ask about your strength and weaknesses. Therefore, start to think about what personal and professional skills you possess, but also the one you would like and need to develop.

Another valuable tip: it is always good to understand the role clearly, and we are there to help you do so as much as we can. So please ask questions: the more you know, the better it is.

In the end

Good luck and remember – be yourself! Ericsson welcomes diverse people, each of whom brings different viewpoints and skillsets to the table. That’s our strength, and that’s the way we want it to be because we believe that with the right mix of people, innovation happens. So, go ahead and just be yourself!
