The fourth industrial revolution – a.k.a. Industry 4.0 – aims to significantly improve the efficiency and flexibility of production processes through the use of automation and data exchange technologies. In this environment, all participants and components of the processes must be able to cooperate and communicate with each other seamlessly. 5G is a prime enabling technology to facilitate this transformation, by providing wireless connectivity in and around the factory based on a global standard with global economy of scale.
