Multi-band booster increases the hop length, or the capacity, by combining different frequencies in one hop. It is a flexible way of catering for the 5G transport requirements.
What is multi-band booster?
Multi-band booster combines the best characteristics of different frequency bands to boost capacities, unleashing the use of higher frequencies over longer distances and much wider geographical areas. Multi-band booster uses a low-band radio to provide a high-availability connection and combines it with a higher band that provides a significant increase in capacity, but with a slightly lower availability.

Multi-band booster uses a low band radio to provide a high availability connection and combines it with a higher band that provides a significant increase in capacity but with a slightly lower availability. For example with a combination of 23 GHz radio with an E-band radio the combination enables 10 times more capacity, than with only using a single 23GHz radio.
Maximizes E-band hop length
Multi-band booster makes it possible to extend the use of the E-band radio that normally is limited to shorter hop-lengths. For example, by using the reach of the 23GHz radio, the hop-length can be extended by 3 times compared to a single E-band hop. This means E-band can be used not just in dense urban areas, but also in suburban areas over longer distances.
The spectrum license for new bands like the E-band (70/80 GHz) are often priced very low compared to traditional bands. Multi-band Booster enables the use of minimal amount of radios for high capacities and a certain hop-length, and the spectrum cost is reduced by up to 75%.
