At D-15 Labs, Ericsson invites ecosystem companies, industry- and service providers to co-create and validate new, compelling use cases by utilizing the Ericsson 5G NW platform available at our Santa Clara Campus.
Meet the Team
Jan Söderström is V.P. and Head of Technology Office Silicon Valley at Ericsson reporting to Ericsson Group CTO. In this capacity he drives the Ericsson technology leadership work in 5G, Cloud and IOT in a collaboration with ecosystem partners in Silicon Valley. A central part in this work is the co-creation work in D-fifteen Labs, enabling partners and customers to develop and test new use cases on a real 5G network platform.
Jan has a Ph.D. in Applied Physics from Chalmers University of Technology, augmented with a one-year research scholarship at California Institute of Technology. He spent his early industrial career working with optoelectronic devices and optical networking at Ericsson Microelectronics, first as development manager and later as product line head. He then had a decade long engagement at Ericsson Research heading the research in IP and Cloud. During this time, he spent three years in Silicon Valley building up the Ericsson Research lab in San Jose. He started the Ericsson engagement in SDN and Openflow in cooperation with the Stanford Cleanslate project and his team also pioneered the Ericsson work on Openstack and cloud orchestration.
In 2013 Jan moved to Business Unit Networks to drive the Ericsson Cloud transformation initiative. He held the roles of Head of Product line Cloud, Head of Target Area Cloud and Head of the NFV-program until he moved to his current position in early 2018.
Diala Abi Rached
Diala joined Ericsson Silicon Valley and the D-15 Labs team in March 2019 and is currently leading the project’s Engagements and Business Development work stream. With over 14 years of experience working in technology, Diala has been leading operational teams for delivering business focused results in leading edge technologies and services within the OSS & Analytics domain. She has a broad experience in planning, executing and delivery of solutions, software development, system integration, virtualization, testing and automation in the Service Fulfillment area.
Diala is recognized as a Change Agent and Driver, leading several of Ericsson’s first implementations worldwide in the fulfillment space, leading teams and groups to innovate as well as several initiatives internally, including Hunting and Farming across the OSS delivery organization to increase Add-on-sales. She has a proven record in building and transforming organizations into dynamic and highly performing units, with strong focus on operational excellence, delivery efficiency and margin optimization.
Diala holds a MSc in Electrical Engineering from Ecole Polytechnique de Montréal. She first joined Ericsson in 2007 in Montréal, Canada, as a System Integrator and Customer Support Engineer, moving on to managing and leading teams in 2010 and becoming an Engineering Director in 2016. She has experience in working with global, diverse teams, working with and leading several acquired groups coming from Redback, Telcordia and Conceptwave.
As head of Strategic Initiatives and Ecosystems, Martin Zander is responsible for setting the strategic direction of ecosystem engagement for 5G, IoT and Cloud for Ericsson Group as well as driving related companywide transformational initiatives. He is furthermore the owner and driver of the Ericsson Group technology strategies for IoT and device domain.
One of his current priorities as ecosystem responsible at CTO office is to use Ericsson’s technology leadership engage closer with key ecosystem partners in the Silicon Valley for new business opportunities for enterprises, industries and consumers as 5G based IoT starts to materialize.
He first joined Ericsson in 2000 working with mobile phones, but rapidly moved into leadership within product management and strategy and has been part and driving the Ericsson Group transformation within the device domain over the past decade. He has served in both market areas, joint ventures, business areas and held executive roles within both Group Strategy and Group Sales.
Zander holds a Master of Science degree in Technology Management from Lund School of Economics and Management in Sweden.
Wassim Haddad is a Principal Systems Engineer at Ericsson’s D-15 Lab, where he is in charge of the architecture of the D-15 Labs Portal. The portal allows third parties to seamlessly instantiate and integrate 5G key differentiators with their applications at the edge of operators’ infrastructures.
Wassim has more than twenty years of experience in the Telecom industry, ten of those working at the Ericsson Santa Clara campus. Prior to joining the D-15 Labs, he was the team lead in the Global Artificial Intelligence Accelerator (GAIA) organization, working with detecting cyberattacks against IoT infrastructures with the help of machine learning. He has an extensive background in leading projects within the entity, among those the “Virtual Enterprise Gateway for Small and Medium Enterprises” project, and the “Micro-NFVs with unikernel” project.
Wassim is the co-chair of the IETF Internet Area Working Group and holds more than 60 patents. He holds a MSc in Mobile Networks & Services from Telecom Bretagne, France.
