Alfa Lebanon: Innovating with real-time offers

In the Networked Society, the market is constantly changing.

Digital services providers have to be keenly aware as to whether their current product and subscription catalog meets the current needs of their subscribers, and likewise have to have the agility and flexibility necessary to change or introduce offers to better suit those needs.

We had a chance to sit down with Nadine El Maalouf, Charging and Policy Engineer with the leading Lebanese operator Alfa Lebanon, to talk about the solutions and capabilities needed to succeed in an ecosystem that is in a constant state of flux.

What they want, when they want it

As Nadine points out, Alfa saw an opportunity to differentiate by responding to customer needs as quickly as possible. In order to make sure their customers get what they want when they want it, Alfa developed their own in-house solution that sends USSD messages with relevant, immediately actionable offers to customers in real time based on real-time events or subscriber actions.

In order to create these kinds of disruptive innovations, you first need to have the capabilities in place that enable great degrees of agility and flexibility across your operation. For example, if you want to create on-the-spot offers that satisfy immediate customer needs, you’ll need a way to easily access existing offers and create new ones without having to start from scratch.

“It’s important for us to see what other operators are doing and what Ericsson’s vision is, how we can set our vision for the future and how we can learn from Ericsson.” – Nadine El Maalouf, Alfa Lebanon
