You need to hear Samantha Bee on the Recode Media podcast

The red interview chairs of Recode are no stranger to business and technology leaders, with Kara Swisher and other Recode editors dishing out the latest buzz on industry happenings. On Tuesday night, Oct 24, at Joe’s Pub at The Public Theater in New York City, we hosted, in partnership with Recode, a live taping of “Recode Media,” Senior Editor Peter Kafka’s media and technology podcast.

I had the honor of kicking off the night on stage, welcoming the 100+ attendees. Late-night TV host Samantha Bee was interviewed onstage alongside Kevin Reilly, the president of US-based TV network TBS/TNT. Bee, the star of "Full Frontal", owned the night, ranging from funny to stinging criticism as she covered topics including the recent sex harassment scandals that have rocked Hollywood, and bringing diversity to the workplace.

In a recap of the podcast on Recode, Bee talked about how she uses Twitter after "unbelievable torrents of hatred" came at her in her mentions:

“My Twitter feed is very useful,” she said. “I’m on Twitter a lot, just for my own personal information. I don’t personally tweet that much anymore because I just don’t have time, and everything I have in my brain, I like to put it into the show, as opposed to spreading it all out. And I never, of course, check my mentions, which is unfortunate.”

Peter Kafka introduced the surprise second taping, which featured New York Times’ “The Daily” podcast host – Michael Barbaro, whose show, which only launched in Feb 2017, now has more than 750,000+ downloads every day.
