A wrap-up from the Ericsson 2018 OSS/BSS User Group

Ericsson's Joydeep Banerjee shares some of the demos ready for viewing.
After an inspiring kickoff that featured Vickie Lonker, Verizon VP of Business Products, and Viraj Parekh, Verizon Executive Director—Global Product—SDN/NFV, Managed Services PaaS and Edge Solution (Resale), the event raced forward under our 2018 theme of “Quest for easy”.
Throughout the event, we discussed what Quest For Easy can mean for consumers and enterprises, operations and businesses—and of course, how it can impact service providers and the products and services they offer.
Since the User Group is also a forum for Ericsson to share insights into OSS/BSS hot topics as well as product and service updates, we heard from a variety of Ericsson experts, including Emanuele Iannetti, Head of Solution Area BSS, who shared the latest news about the Ericsson Telecom BSS portfolio.

Ericsson's Emanuele Iannetti discusses the key drivers for the evolution to Digital Service Provider.
Other Ericsson speakers included Marton Sabli, Head of Solution and Service Readiness for Solution Area OSS, who discussed orchestration of network slices and service assurance in a multi-vendor environment, and Mats Karlsson, Head of Solution Area OSS, who spoke about 5G—from enablers to monetization.
Ericsson's Rick Mallon, Head of BSS Catalog and Order Management, discussed how simplicity and automation can be achieved with the help of Catalog and Order Care and Mohit Gupta, Ericsson's Director of Product Management, Solution Area OSS, spoke about the importance of insight-driven automation.
Operator knowledge sharing takes center stage again
We also continued our popular “operator knowledge sharing” sessions where service providers shared experiences and key learnings. In one panel moderated by Arthur D. Little, customers including Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile shared their views on the challenges and opportunities related to 5G and IoT, as well as digital transformation and monetization.
Another panel was led by Gary G Fujinami, Director Performance Analytics Development / Operations—Verizon, who spoke about the challenges of management and orchestration in an NFV-enabled multi-operator world.
These sharing sessions were an important part of each of our two concurrent “break out” tracks, with one track focused on revenue management while the other included service management, orchestration and analytics.
As the snow began to fall in New York City, the User Group began its wrap up, with final activities that included a brainstorming session with operators to focus on future needs and requirements.
In the weeks to come, we'll be sharing customer reflections from the event, as well as commentary from various Ericsson experts across OSS and BSS. Stayed tuned to this space!
