Diversity & Inclusion Friday news round-up: Nov 30, 2018
Welcome to the latest edition of our Diversity & Inclusion Friday News Round Up – Special Edition “Best of TED”. We just welcomed a new member to our family, so for the next few weeks (until January) I wont be sharing any new content, but have prepared a few “Best of” special editions for you. Happy Friday!
In October, we celebrated Global Diversity Awareness Month and at Ericsson, the over-arching theme for 2018 was Inclusion. In this TED Talk, Melinda Epler talks about inclusion in the workplace and how we can become allies to those who are being underrepresented or even discriminated.
Great TEDx Talk from Kristen Pressner (Head of HR at Roche Diagnostics): Kristen, being a senior female leader, talks about how she recognized her own unconscious bias against women leaders and how she returned it to consciousness. #FlipItToTestIt
Interesting TED Talk from Rebeca Hwang. Rebeca has Korean heritage, grew up in Argentina and is living in the US now and had to learn how to juggle her different identities and embrace the diversity within herself.
Women in STEM
Simone Giertz is not an engineer, but she made a career in STEM, inventing useless robots. This TED Talk was released earlier this year – definitely a must watch!
Very interesting TED Talk from Rocio Lorenzo (Boston Consulting Group) on why diversity is so important for innovation. Rocio and her team surveyed 171 companies and showed that there is a direct correlation between diversity and innovation, which results in higher revenues for new products and services.
