Welcome to the AI & Automation Summit 2019 – an invitation - only event where we will discuss the opportunities and challenges that AI brings to operating the networks of the future.

Artificial intelligence, automation, and the power of data, are rewriting the rules of designing, operating and optimizing the networks of the future. As the world is racing towards a new digital era, powered by 5G, IoT and the 4th industrial revolution, high-performing and intelligent mobile networks will be the drumbeat of this new digital world order. Successful network operations will depend on advanced AI, automation and analytics to move from reactive to proactive – making sense of billions of data points and acting before network issues become user issues.

Ericsson will bring together some of the world’s biggest customer service providers, AI & automation experts, and thought leaders, to share experiences and collaborate on their transformation journeys.

The agenda includes cutting-edge key notes, thought-provoking workshops with industry leaders and deep dives into managed services including networks and IT infrastructure operations, design and optimization (NDO) and application development management (ADM).

Ericsson will also be launching an insights report at this event, including interviews from customers from around the world into the role of operations. It also looks at the present and future role of AI and automation in network operations.

The historic 17th century Villa Aurelia will also host demonstrations of the latest developments with the industry-leading Ericsson Operations Engine - designed to handle the increased complexity of network operations with AI, automation, data analytics and a wealth of human expertise in the telco domain.

Cassie Kozyrkov

Chief Decision Scientist, Google Inc.

As Chief Decision Scientist at Google Cloud, Cassie Kozyrkov advises leadership teams on decision process, AI strategy, and building data-driven organizations. She is the innovator behind bringing the practice of Decision Intelligence to Google, personally training over 15,000 Googlers. Prior to joining Google, Cassie worked as a data scientist and consultant. She holds degrees in mathematical statistics, economics, psychology, and neuroscience.

Mischa Dohler

Professor, Wireless Communications, King’s College, London

He is a Fellow of the IEEE, the Royal Academy of Engineering, the Royal Society of Arts (RSA), the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET); and a Distinguished Member of Harvard Square Leaders Excellence. Mischa has pioneered several research fields, contributed to numerous wireless broadband, IoT/M2M and cyber security standards, holds a dozen patents, organized and chaired numerous conferences, was the Editor-in-Chief of two journals, has more than 200 highly-cited publications, and authored several books.


Randeep Sekhon

Chief Technology Officer for Airtel India and South Asia

Headquartered in New Delhi, India, the company ranks amongst the top 3 mobile service providers globally in terms of subscribers. In India, the company's product offerings include 2G, 3G and 4G wireless services, mobile commerce, fixed line services, high speed home broadband, DTH, enterprise services including national & international long-distance services to carriers. Randeep is responsible for driving technology Strategy and Innovation, Digitization, Network operations, Rollout, Planning and quality. Prior to this, Randeep was CEO of Hutchison Tri Indonesia based out of Jakarta. He successfully drove customer centricity and digitization led efficiency and business transformation for 3 in Indonesia.

Benoit Hanssen has been the Chief Technology Officer since December 31, 2016. He joined Wind Tre at the start of the joint venture in 2016 from Vodafone Hutchison Australia where he was also the CTO. Prior that he headed up the global managed services operation at Ericsson, as well as again CTO at Hutchison Indonesia from 2007 where he oversaw the launch and initial network. Between 2001 and 2007. Benoit played a key role in creating and developing Ericsson’s managed services business. Assignments during that period included the running of the Telfort/O2 network in the Netherlands, and the Bharti Airtel network across 15 circles in India.

Ruza Sabanovic, born 1971, joined the green field operations in Telenor Montenegro in 1996. Since 2014 she was SVP Technology and Industrialized projects, part of the Group Industrialized Development team. She has previously served as Chief Operating Officer in Telenor India and was also heading Group network function and Group CTO forum. From 1994-2008 Ruza served as the assistant professor at the Civil Engineering Faculty, University of Montenegro. She holds a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering Technology from the University of Belgrade, Serbia.

In his current role, Daniel is member of the technology leadership team reporting to the CTIO and heads the wireless technology area including vision and strategy, development and operation of the wireless network and service platforms, the best net initiative, improve the end user experience, the virtualization of the core network and 5G launch. During his 23 years with Swisscom, Daniel held several leading executive/senior roles within the Swisscom Mobile Division such as Head of Product Marketing and Head of IT.

Jai Prakash is responsible for network operations, rollout and IT, has an extensive experience in telecoms operations with 24 years in the industry. Before joining Telenor Myanmar in 2015, Mr. Prakash served as Circle Technical Head for Bihar and UP (East) in Telenor India.

Ajay Malik

Ajay Malik, Head of Artificial Intelligence, View Inc.

Ajay is a technologist, business futurist, & prolific inventor with about 90 patents pending/issued specializing in artificial intelligence, Wi-Fi networking, Quantum computing, and Real Time Location. He is author of “RTLS for Dummies”, “Augmented Reality for Dummies” & “Artificial Intelligence for Wireless Networking”. Prior to joining View Inc. as the Head of Artificial Intelligence, Ajay was the CEO & Founder of Oro Networks, a company developing a Artificial Intelligence Managed Wireless Networks – AI to make a network think for itself. Before starting ORO, Ajay was head of architecture and engineering for the worldwide corporate network at Google. Ajay has also held executive leadership positions at Meru Networks, Hewlett-Packard, Cisco, and Motorola. He completed B.E in Computer Science & Technology from IIT, Roorkee, India.

Jonas Åkeson heads the AI & Automation unit for Ericsson’s Business Area Managed services since December 2017. With over 15 years of experience in the telecom industry, he consistently strives to maximize the customer experience and network quality by the use of automation and AI within Managed Services. Jonas holds a Master of Science degree in Engineering from Linköping Institute of Technology, and a Business and Administration degree from Stockholm University. He strives to explain complex issues in simple terms, ensuring that his passion for automation and vision for artificial intelligence within Managed Services does not get lost in technical jargon.

Michelson joined Ericsson in 1999. During his career with the company, he has held a series of senior executive positions including Head of Customer Unit Cable for Ericsson North America, Key Account Manager towards AT&T as well as Head of the Mobile Broadband Practice for Ericsson Latin America, Head of Business Development for Ericsson Central America & Caribbean, Chief Marketing Officer for Business Unit Networks and Business Unit Access, respectively.

Michelson has a Master of Science in Business and Economics, with majors in Marketing and Finance from the University of Uppsala in Sweden.  

Roberto Kung

SVP Technology and Operations, Orange

He is responsible for the Orange Expert program bringing together the top 600 experts on domains such as Network Technologies and operations, Security, Data and AI, Software or Environment. The program also covers services aspects such as Content, communication or transaction services. He is responsible for Orange strategy on Network Operation, with a specific focus on smooth deployment of innovations (use of Orange integration network, organization, processes, OSS/tools and operational support). Prior to that, he has been Head of Orange Core Networks R&D, head of Lannion site, Head of strategy in France Telecom's Network division and Head of Strategy & Planning in France Telecom's long-distance subsidiary. In the past, he has also been active in R&D, responsible for all R&D activities regarding the Intelligent Network. He has been a member of TINA-C and responsible of the Working Group on Intelligent Network at ITU-T. Roberto Kung graduated from Ecole Polytechnique in France and has a telecom engineering degree from Telecom Paris Tech.

Arash joined the telecom industry in 1998 and is currently in-charge of MTN Group Operations, reporting directly to the Group CTIO. In his 21-year long journey in the industry, he has assumed various roles including that of a Rollout Integration Manager, Planning Manager and Operations Manager. He joined MTN in 2007 and has, since then been involved in developing MTN networks in different markets, mainly in Operations, BCM and outsourcing O&M. He was been managing operations in various domains including IN, VAS, roaming, IPTX, SOC, CEM and Networks, which helped him gain a better understanding on different services and customer experience.

Managed Services provides services in more than 100 countries supporting approximately 1 billion subscriptions. Peter has more than 20 years in telecommunications with executive positions in regional management, key account management, managed services, multimedia, systems integration and cloud hosting services.
