How enhanced network performance improved satisfaction among spectators at the 2016 Summer Games in Rio

Prior to, and during the games, Ericsson worked to prepare the networks across all of the sporting venues and related sites. To understand how these efforts paid off in terms of end-user experiences, Ericsson surveyed 800 spectators who used their smartphones during events at the games. Those responses were compared to 800 attendees at 2014 international football tournament matches across Brazil.

Ericsson Key Event Experience enhanced network performance during the events, tracking more than 100 key performance indicators (KPIs) on 6700 network elements. The findings shared in the report explore the high-capacity networks Ericsson built at the 2016 games, and provide a use case for increased spectator satisfaction.
