A bridge to 5G and new use cases
Gigabit LTE enabled by the Ericsson Radio System offers a smooth evolution path to support new use cases through a combination of radio technologies and features. End users experience improved service performance, though faster response times, and shortened time to content.
Gigabit LTE bandwidth can support personal hotspots for use outside the home and office, or in small offices, as well as fixed wireless access (FWA) services in areas where copper infrastructure is poor or non-existent – broadening the mobile broadband business model beyond smartphones.
The Ericsson Radio System offers an end-to-end suite of hardware and software that enable operators to move to Gigabit LTE in the most efficient and cost-effective way, whatever their starting point. While it provides immediate benefits in their 4G network, it also lays the foundation for the move to 5G. Ericsson Radio System makes the most of existing and new spectrum to deliver not only increasing download speeds, but also additional traffic handling capacity. And it has already been used to deliver the world’s first commercial Gigabit LTE network for Telstra, in Australia.
