Prestigious award from Electronic Products magazine recognizes the ability of the BMR456 and BMR457 DC/DC Advanced Bus Converters to control intermediate bus voltage to deliver high efficiency and significant energy savings.

Ericsson has won a ‘Product of the Year’ award for the company’s leading-edge 3E* BMR456 and BMR457 digital power DC/DC Advanced Bus Converters (ABCs) from Electronic Products, a leading trade publication for electronic design engineers. The BMR456 and BMR457 offer unprecedented performance and flexibility to system architects developing equipment for information and communication technologies (ICT) requiring smart and efficient board power solutions.

The 2012 Product of the Year Awards were announced in the January 2013 issue of Electronic Products. The editors of Electronic Products evaluated thousands of products launched in 2012, selecting the winning products on the basis of innovative design, significant advancement in technology or application and substantial achievement in price and performance.

“The BMR456 and BMR457 DC/DC converters are second-generation digital Advanced Bus Converters that set new standards for controlling intermediate bus voltages and maintaining high efficiency,” said Paul O’Shea, Senior Editor at Electronic Products Magazine. “Ericsson raised the bar by implementing hardware and firmware to dynamically adjust voltages to meet the requirements of the load conditions. These quarter- and eighth-brick cutting-edge converters will find ready acceptance in the telecom industry.”

“We are delighted to win this highly prestigious award from Electronic Products,” said Patrick Le Fèvre, Marketing and Communication Director, Ericsson Power Modules. “It is an important industry recognition of the advanced capabilities of the BMR456 and BMR457 converters to dynamically control bus voltages, making it possible to reduce board power consumption from anywhere between 3 and 10 percent, depending on the board application, delivering significant energy savings.”

The award from Electronic Products joins other recent award wins gained by Ericsson. Ericsson won the “Green Electronics’ category at last month’s Electronics Weekly Elektra 2012 awards in London, and earlier in the year, the BMR457 Advanced Bus Converter was named as a top 10 DC/DC power product by Electronic Products China magazine. Ericsson was also nominated as a finalist by UK publication Electronic Product Design in its E-Legacy awards for the company’s investment in the environment.

* Enhanced Performance, Energy Management, and End-user Value are the key benefits delivered by Ericsson’s range of 3E digitally controlled DC/DC converters.
