At the Broadband World Forum 2013 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, on October 22-24, Ericsson will share insights into and reflections on: service provider software-defined networking (SDN) and the cloud; 4G IP for mobility, video and the cloud; monetizing broadband with new business models; and more.

Ericsson CTO Ulf Ewaldsson, who will be a keynote speaker at the event, says: "We believe a superior network performance is the key differentiator for successful growth for service providers. When you focus on network performance, it gives you the potential to do things much better: you can serve your users better, and this creates ways to monetize as the move from the voice paradigm into the data era continues."

Performance used to be about handling more data; today, performance is about serving user needs better. Every device, app and situation raises unique expectations, and Ericsson is in the best position to address this and support customers end-to-end. In our latest global consumer study, network performance was ranked as the most important factor for consumer satisfaction. It shows that users with high network satisfaction are more loyal to their operator and spend more money. The study also shows that these users are also much more likely to recommend their operator to friends.

Ericsson has, since the introduction of the concept of service provider SDN in 2012, produced several new solutions in this area and for the cloud, including Network Functions Virtualization. These solutions fit well with Ericsson’s continued strong commitment to IP.

"These are areas that have developed significantly during the past year," Ewaldsson says. "One example is the launch of a completely new cloud solution. Together with our customers, we have collected many insights that we’re now ready to share. I’m really excited about continuing the discussion in Amsterdam."
