Ericsson’s breakthrough work with Turkcell around business service innovation honored at global industry awards event. Awards presented at ceremony on June 4 in London.

Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) and Turkcell received a Global Telecoms Business Innovation Award at a ceremony held June 4 in London. Established in 2007, the Global Telecoms Business Innovation Awards recognize service providers and their technology suppliers for innovative projects in the worldwide telecommunications industry.

In deploying its Charging System with Turkcell, Ericsson was recognized for business service innovation. The solution creates real-time charging that covers all subscribers and services for the operator’s mobile customers and gives postpaid subscribers the confidence to consume content without fear of bill shock. It also enables new business opportunities via real-time user notifications, spending control, offerings, roaming rating and shared quota usage. The new capabilities are expected to reduce invoice complaints by 80 percent. The project represents the world’s first implementation of a convergent real-time charging solution for 35M subscribers and all services with 100 tariffs, and 5000 offerings.

Turkcell’s Chief Information and Communication Technologies Officer İlker Kuruoz stated, “Turkcell has a well-deserved reputation in innovation.
