Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) today announced its success in the Telecoms.com LTE Awards, with its LTE Broadcast solution winning the category for ’Most Innovative LTE Application or Service’. Responding to the growing consumer demand for TV Anywhere, Ericsson's LTE Broadcast solution transforms video experience, offering the highest quality of content for popular events with guaranteed delivery.
Ove Anebygd, Vice President and Head of TV, Ericsson said: "We are delighted that our LTE Broadcast solution has been recognized as best-in-class – a further reflection of our continued dedication to addressing growing consumer demands for TV Anywhere services, and meeting the real needs of operators today. Leading network operators are already seeing the potential that LTE brings. Having pioneered the world’s first complete solution for broadcast video over LTE networks, our solution helps operators maximize revenue opportunities, capitalizing on the evolution in media consumption."
As the world’s first complete solution for broadcast video over LTE networks, Ericsson’s Broadcast solution enables operators and their media partners to provide premium services with guaranteed quality and cost-efficient delivery over LTE, bringing with it new sources of revenue. Ericsson’s LTE offering consists of three new technology standards: HEVC (High Efficiency Video Coding); MPEG DASH (Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP (DASH) and eMBMS (Evolved Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service).
Ericsson is driving the standardization of the LTE Broadcast ecosystem with leading industry partners. The LTE Broadcast solution will enable the commercialization and deployment of premium multimedia services over LTE for the mass market, allowing operators to tap new revenue streams and meet the increasingly high demands of users for an exceptional video experience.
The annual Telecoms.com LTE Awards were presented at the LTE World Summit, Amsterdam, on Tuesday, June 25, 2013. Now in their fourth year, the awards celebrate innovation in the global LTE community, recognizing and rewarding technical excellence. Entrants at the prestigious ceremony were judged independently by a panel of industry subject experts, comprising senior heads of engineering and operations from some of the world's most important network operators.
This is the second award in two months for the Ericsson LTE Broadcast solution, which was launched at Mobile World Congress 2013. The system won a Connected TV Award in the category for ‘Outstanding Technology Innovation’ at the Connected TV Summit in London last month.
