Ericsson increased its market share and leading position among microwave vendors. Rated among top vendors by operators in 10 out of 11 categories in Infonetics’ 2013 microwave survey.

As the microwave equipment market continues to grow more crowded, service providers are looking at vendors and their solutions with ever-greater scrutiny. Market research firm Infonetics Research recently published its annual global service provider study on Microwave Strategies and Vendor Leadership for 2013, ranking Ericsson the top vendor once again.

This year, Ericsson increased its market share and leading position among microwave vendors. Operators give Ericsson a very strong vote of confidence in this survey, placing it as leading or in the top 3 in 10 out of the 11 categories: technology, innovation, security, management software, price-to-performance, solution breadth, TCO, pricing, financial stability, service & support, product roadmap and product reliability.

Ericsson was perceived as the clear leader in last year's survey as well. Decision makers at 25 operators globally participated in the survey, representing 37 percent of 2012 worldwide telecom capex and revenue. Each respondent operator is a significant user of microwave products.

Ericsson is the market leader in microwave radio, has deployed more than 2.9 million short-haul radios for more than 800 customers in 170 countries. The MINI-LINK family of products has been extended with a range of switching and routing products, and nearly all MINI-LINK radios Ericsson has deployed since 2001 are upgradeable to IP. Being able to upgrade existing installations, instead of replacing them, can save between 40 and 60 percent in microwave costs for the IP upgrade.
