5G networks will revolutionize our lives in ways we can’t even imagine yet. It will make it easier for societies and companies to take a step further into this connected future. As a pioneer and key player of all things 5G, we wanted to do a homage to the power of its connectivity, and how it is enabling innovation, inspiration and a thriving technology ecosystem.
Our vision of the future spans a broad range of aspects – from sports and gaming all the way to warehouse logistics – but there’s one thing that’s constant: 5G.

Meet our Tech Heroes
As thought leaders within their field, these individuals represent a forward-thinking mindset that work in areas where we know connectivity will have a significant impact. All of these individuals are creating solutions and fighting for development that drives innovation and makes peoples’ lives easier.
We call them our Tech Heroes.
Sheng-Ann Yu, Ericsson
“If I use a brake because I have a car in front of me then you should be able to send a signal 100 meters around; all the cars will get a warning signal to understand that someone is braking. That’s the intelligence you create with low latency.”
Sheng-Ann Yu is a passionate leader and engineer in connectivity and the cloud. She has more than 20 years of ICT industry experience and is a true believer and promoter of technology for good, education and self-leadership.
“When technology is designed with access in mind, it opens doors and brings communities together.”
Haben Girma is the first ever Deafblind person to graduate from Harvard Law School. A disability rights advocate, author and public speaker, Haben travels the world teaching the importance of fully accessible products and services. President Barack Obama recognized her as a Champion of Change, and Haben’s work has earned her a spot on Forbes’ 30 under 30 list.
Diego González Morín, Ericsson
“Multimodal mixed reality is this architecture in which you merge augmented reality with special audio and haptics. This means that you will not only be able to see the virtual content augmented on top of the real world, but you will be able to interact with it, move it – feel the edges.”
Diego González Morín is a researcher at Ericsson in the field of devices technologies. An industrial engineer educated in Madrid and Stockholm, he has a penchant for AI, autonomous control, machine learning and deep learning.
Jan Höller, Ericsson
“Today, very few goods are actually connected and online. We need to enable devices and connected goods to actually 'roam' globally. Ericsson has a central part to play in making this happen, both through the technologies that we have in cellular connectivity and through our partners and customer ecosystem.”
Jan Höller established Ericsson’s research activities in IoT over a decade ago. He is responsible for IoT technology and research strategies and is also actively engaging in external IoT ecosystems, including the Industrial Internet Consortium.
“The last thing a gamer ever wants is lag. Having 5G technology just ripping the cord of latency problems is so important. If you think of all the virtual reality technology that we have right now, there are literal strings attached; using 5G technology in order to have you immersed in that world is really leveling things up.”
Mari Takahashi – or “AtomicMari” – is one of the top female names in the world of gaming, with an audience of more than 2 million across her social media channels. She is a gaming pioneer, pop and nerd culture expert, former professional ballet dancer and co-founder of the top-ranking gaming brand Smosh Games (7.4 million subscribers).
Peter Marshall, Ericsson
“If you think about all of the experiences – augmented reality, virtual reality, social media, statistics, the 360 camera – they all need different tools in the 5G toolbox. We provide that connectivity. We provide that slice to make that quality and sense happen in real time.”
A technical manager with over 20 years of telecoms experience, Peter Marshall proactively identifies how Ericsson can be an effective and valued partner in innovation ecosystems. As part of this, he leads Ericsson’s ongoing collaboration with King’s College London, which aims to develop tangible use cases that will benefit both industry and society.
Håkan Olofsson, Ericsson
“We beamform energy towards the user, and we know where it is because we know where the house is and that’s where we sold the service. We also combine that with multi-user MIMO, which means we can send energy in these beams to multiple households at the same time.”
“As an artist, it’s very common that you’ll do a lot of collaborations. It would be awesome if someone from LA – who’s in New York while I’m having a concert in Stockholm – can go online and sing with me.”
KIDDO is a Swedish songwriter and performer who has lent her pen to some of today’s biggest artists, including Gashi, Icona Pop and SHY Martin. The theme song for this campaign is called “Calling” – which KIDDO recorded together with the Swedish producer MagnusTheMagnus
Antony Beswick, Ericsson
“The thing about IoT that really intrigues me is the degree to which knowledge is power. I’m just used to not knowing things. We’re used to inefficiency. And a lot of that inefficiency can be rolled out of the system by connecting things.”
Antony Beswick is responsible for structuring the enterprise engagement around Ericsson’s offerings across massive IoT, broadband IoT, critical IoT and industrial automation IoT. He firmly believes that one should never stop innovating
“If you could see our daily lives in the football club, you would know how much we use technology and how incorporated it is. Having technology that could measure: ‘It’s going to be this high of an altitude, your body’s going to react this way. Let’s train differently.’ I think that’s going to be game-changing.”
Nadia Nadim is a Danish striker for the French football club, PSG. At age 12, after her father was killed by the Taliban, she fled Afghanistan for Denmark with her mother and sisters. Suddenly able to play football, Nadia quickly rose up the ranks and has now been playing for the Danish national team for over a decade. Outside of football, Nadia is nearing the end of her medical studies and hopes to one day become a reconstructive surgeon.
Azimeh Sefidcon, Ericsson
“The main challenge of remote robotics is the networking and the communication. We absolutely need extremely low latency for the communication between operator and robot. 5G provides that for us – but it also provides flexibility.”
Dr Azimeh Sefidcon is a cloud systems and platforms research director with a keen interest in technologies that impact societies and human lives for the better. It is her adamant belief that we should never be satisfied with what we already know.
"What drives my work in robotics is that we create solutions that can bridge the geographical gap between people and their workplaces. With remote robotics, where machines can be operated at a distance, we will not only benefit the industry but – even more importantly – we will benefit the people working within it. Technology has the power to make our lives easier and bring society forward.”
Danica Kragic is a renowned computer scientist and professor at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, specializing in AI and robotics. She aims to develop these technologies to make it easier for all people, including those with disabilities, to communicate. With profiles of her appearing in Business Insider and Vogue, she is a strong voice for advocating the social benefits of robotics.
