World's first full-scale MMS services commercially launched in Hungary
Ericsson and Westel today launched the world's first commercial, full-scale Multimedia Messaging Services (MMS) based on Ericsson's MMS technology. Now mobile subscribers in Hungary are able to send and receive multimedia messages containing image, text and sound.

Telefónica Móviles names Ericsson supplier for UMTS launch phase in Spain and Germany
Telefónica Móviles has selected Ericsson as main supplier for the initial roll out phase of its UMTS network in Spain and Germany. The value of the global contract is estimated at about 400 million euros. In Spain, Ericsson will deploy more than 700 base stations, making the Telefonica Moviles UMTS roll out there one of the largest in the world. The contract covers a three-year period.

New Directors on the Ericsson Board
The Annual General Meeting of Ericsson today elected Peter L. Bonfield, Lena Torell and Michael Treschow as new Directors of the Board. The new Board of Directors elected Michael Treschow as chairman. Tom Hedelius and Marcus Wallenberg were re-elected vice chairmen. Lars Ramqvist has been appointed Honorary Chairman of the Board.
