AirHop Auptim® AI/ML Energy Savings MIMO Adaptation rApp
AirHop Communications | Network Optimization
Auptim AI/ML-powered ESMA rApp dynamically reconfigures the number of MIMO channels to minimize energy consumption without degrading user service levels. It can be deployed in both 4G and 5G on a non-RT RIC, such as Ericsson’s Ericsson Intelligent Controller (EIC) for use with O-RAN and purpose-built RAN.
Reduced power consumption
In a MIMO deployment, Auptim ESMA rApp uses AI/ML-based traffic prediction model to dynamically reconfigure MIMO channels to optimize available RAN capacity and energy consumption. It intelligently turns off certain transmitters under low traffic conditions. Models have shown up to 40% reduction in power consumption in 5G networks.
Reduced OpEx
Since RAN power consumption contributes to roughly 70% of RAN operating expenses, reduction in power consumption by the Auptim ESMA rApp directly contributes to reduction in operating expenses of a RAN.
Maintain End User QoE
Auptim ESMA rApp monitors parameters associated with end user Quality of Experience, such as user accessibility and physical resource block utilization, and makes intelligent decisions for when to turn capacity carriers on to not compromise the end user QoE, while reducing RAN power consumption. User accessibility is maintained at nearly 100%, and PRB utilization is kept low with enough headroom.
