The NIx RAN Energy Saver rApp dynamically configures, monitors and optimises RAN energy saving features based on customisable policies, avoiding any service degradation that could negatively impact service performance. Energy saving is achieved by switching radio resources on and off based on forecasted traffic and network performance.
Power consumption optimisation across the network
The NIx RAN Energy Saver rApp minimises power consumption across the network without any service degradation or negative impact on coverage. The rApp forecasts accurate traffic based on AI/ML algorithms for each network element. The decision agent then makes use of the traffic state classification policies to identify a safe traffic state per network element. The traffic state supports the identification of those radio resources needed to meet the traffic demand. The rApp provides additional accuracy by including an evaluator module which validates the traffic state assigned using performance data of the last available time window. Commands are generated accordingly to action the network, modifying those power setting parameters to the values configured in the energy saving blueprint.
Customisable energy saving strategy with high level of flexibility
A user-friendly interface allows the engineer to configure easily different network element types, traffic state classification policies and energy saving blueprints. The engineer can then configure where, when and how energy saving features are applied on the network.
Prompt intervention to accommodate unexpected surges in traffic
With the NIx RAN Energy Saver rApp both network KPIs and forecasted KPIs are evaluated and compared repeatedly. Rollback decisions are taken in case traffic is not as expected in the forecast. Rollback changes are sent to the network for immediate implementation.
