Data Storage Management

Ericsson Data Storage Management solutions provide telco-grade, unified storage of different types of network data about an operator’s customer subscriptions and network configuration, including policies, resource status, network slice status, etc. They also provide associated provisioning and orchestration capabilities to ensure efficient data gathering and management.


Central user database (CUDB)

Our well-established database, CUDB delivers robust and highly available storage for the Ericsson data and policy management areas, up to and including 5G non-standalone access.This telco grade, real-time, geographically distributed database stores both static and dynamic data, as well as subscriber-related service data. CUDB enables you to centralize user data and structure it for optimal access. Products and solutions based on the data layer architecture of CUDB can separate traffic logic (e.g. HLR/AUC-FE, HSS-FE) and data storage (CUDB) into different nodes, providing significant advantages in storage functionality, deployment and operation. CUDB is a key component of the Ericsson User Data Consolidation (UDC) system solution. It is available for both physical and virtual deployments.

Cloud Core Data Storage Manager (CCDM)

Ericsson’s commercial realization of the 3GPP User Data Repository (UDR) network function, CCDM was specifically developed to meet the 5G core standalone requirements as well as existing database functionality provided by CUDB.  

The Cloud Core Data-Storage manager (CCDM) is an in-memory distributed database, exposed to applications via either a RESTful interface or as an LDAP directory. It was developed as a cloud native application using container and service-based technology to comply with 3GPP 5G standards.

CCDM consolidates and unifies subscription data for multiple applications in a single database. It can store both static and dynamic data, as well as subscription-related service data and, if appropriate for an application, additional types of data such as routing data, slicing data, session data, and unstructured data types.

As a telco-grade database, CCDM has been designed to provide the high levels of robustness and service availability required by telecom operators. Its main features are real-time access, high throughput, low latency, high availability, multiple redundancy mechanisms, network congestion handling, high capacity and scalability, and ensured data consistency and durability.

CCDM is Ericsson’s implementation of the User Data Repository (UDR) and Subscription Profile Repository (SPR) network functions standardized by 3GPP. It will incorporate the Unstructured Data Storage Function (UDSF) as 3GPP makes that standard available.

Ericsson Dynamc Activation (EDA)

Ericsson Dynamic Activation (EDA) is a proven provisioning platform for rapid and automated activation of telecommunications services in a heterogeneous network environment. EDA is built with a flexible architecture that can easily be adapted to a service provider’s business practices, rather than the service provider having to change their business processes to adapt to a rigid provisioning platform. EDA provides high availability, resilience, and the scalability to handle high-throughput service activations. It provides pre-verified provisioning solution towards CUDB and CCDM that eases the integration effort in BSS when introducing new service offerings to the end user, and enables that BSS to manage subscriber migration as the network evolves. Combined with the multi-vendor/multi technology activation capability, EDA provides a single point entry point for provisioning a BSS system.
