Ericsson and True present Thailand’s first 5G-powered Connected Music Performance

Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) and True Corporation will be showcasing Thailand’s first-ever 5G powered ‘Connected Music’ performance during a four-day True 5G World event at Siam Square in Bangkok this week. During this demonstration, two parts of a musical performance will be synced using a live 5G network and presented as one, for live audiences at two different locations.
This event shows how 5G can create a seamless audience experience due to the ultra-low latency of the 5G network, as well as Ericsson and True’s readiness to deploy 5G in Thailand.
Remote music collaboration in real-time is an evolution for the performing art industry as it helps eliminate travel time and the costs that limit collaboration, performance, practice and learning. It also increases productivity for professionals in the music industry, including producers, event organizers and teachers. This performance highlights how 5G can transform our interaction with the arts and opens new opportunities for other related industries.
Nadine Allen, Head of Ericsson Thailand said, “With significantly higher speeds and 10 times lower latency, 5G technology will have a significant impact on both industries and consumers across the world. This Connected Music demonstration is a great example of 5G’s game-changing benefits.”
“Globally, Ericsson has been first to deploy live 5G networks across four continents. Today, we have 78 commercial agreements and contracts, out of which 24 are live networks in 14 countries. We are committed to bringing our live 5G deployment experience and learnings to Thailand to support Thailand to realize the full potential of 5G,” added Nadine.
Mr. Suphakit Vuntanadit, Group Chief Commercial Officer, True Corporation Plc, said, “We continue to develop innovative services to support all emerging tech-centric lifestyles for the future, and the 5G network will be the most important technology that will contribute to significant changes in society in all dimensions. True Group has been continuously developing our 5G network, signaling our readiness to lead the way in contributing to positive changes that benefit the quality of life for all Thais.
Thai consumers are already waiting for 5G. According to Ericsson’s ConsumerLab Report, with specific insights on Thailand, 1 in 2 Thai consumers will switch their service provider within six months if their current mobile operator does not provide 5G. In addition, consumers in Thailand are expected to spend an additional three hours watching videos on mobile devices, out of which one hour will be on AR/VR glasses.
