Free Senegal has launched LTE services powered by Ericsson

Free Senegal has launched LTE services powered by Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC). The telco’s LTE Plus is a commercial full-featured service that offers a complete suite of telephony features such as Ultra High Definition (UHD) video streaming as well as HD voice and video calling. These services will allow subscribers to browse and navigate using the fastest data connections available in Senegal as well as enjoy the best voice services with unlimited talk and texting.

In association with Free Senegal, Ericsson also showcased a 5G-powered Music Connect demonstration at its flagship event, ‘Barcelona Unboxed’ on 5th November in Dakar, Senegal. The demonstration involved two groups of musicians in different locations playing together in real time and perfect synchronization over Free Senegal’s network. Local superstar Carlou D. headed the live performance.

By 2023, mobile subscriptions in Africa are forecast to reach over 900 million – leading to a penetration rate of 105 percent. Ericsson’s flexible, end-to-end 5G portfolio which includes the industry leading 5G platform, provides customers with the products and services needed to manage the increased traffic growth, simplify their operations and to secure their 5G revenues. Ericsson is providing Free Senegal with products and solutions from its 5G-ready Ericsson Radio System portfolio as well as the latest software upgrades to ensure a high-performing network.
