Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) and The Wot-if? Trust jointly won the Changing Lives award in recognition of their joint efforts to promote entrepreneurship and provide access to skills and resources in deserving communities. The award was announced at AfricaCom 2018 in Cape Town, South Africa.
Ericsson partnered with The Wot-if? Trust to build a 244-square-meter Tech and Media Hub using converted cargo containers in Diepsloot, a post-apartheid settlement in South Africa. It features a training center, cyber café, open meeting spaces, a think tank, resource centre and a studio for Diepsloot Radio.
The eHUB promotes socio-economic development through the provision of data and digital resources, training and mentorship and access to opportunities for job seekers and emerging entrepreneurs. The objective is to ensure they are able to earn a sustainable income, which will ultimately impact and improve their livelihood.

The Wot-if? Trust is a social enterprise that has operated in Diepsloot since 2013, providing much needed resources to emerging and small enterprises. Many of the entrepreneurs that are supported live in homes with no electricity or sanitation.
