At Ericsson, we work proactively to improve diversity and inclusion. As a part of this, we implement various programs and initiatives to further advance our organizational diversity and inclusion agenda.
We engage in several external initiatives, like TechWomen which empowers and connects next-generation women leaders from Africa and the Middle East in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Here are just a handful of big and small initiatives across the globe.
- 2018 - In 2018, Market Area North America (MANA) made a sizeable investment in our partnership with Girl Scouts of North Texas. Girl Scouts is the largest organization building girls of courage, confidence, and character. This organization prepares girls with skills for a lifetime of leadership, success, and adventure. - 2017: We sponsored the 'Lesbians Who Tech Summit' which brings together lesbians, queer women, and allies across all areas of technology
- 2016: We sponsored the 1st 'European Celebration of Women in Computing' in Belgium
- 2015: We co-sponsored the 'Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing', the world's largest talent fair of women computer scientists

Empowering Young South African Girls in STEM with Techno Girl
Anita Borg Institute – Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing
Ericsson sponsored the 2015 Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing. The conference is the world's largest gathering of women technologists. The conference features keynotes by prominent women in technology, career workshops, and technical tracks from leading researchers and the best of ACM SIGSOFT & SIGGRAPH.
Battle of the Numbers
Ericsson participated in the year-long Battle of the Numbers, a Swedish private sector project involving 10 companies, which concluded in November 2013. Each company was asked to commit to raising the number of women in operational and decision-making positions. Ten women were selected from each company. The project engaged the CEOs of all the companies, as well as other senior-level executives in Human Resources.

Broadband Commission for Digital Development
Ericsson collaborates with the Broadband Commission for Digital Development. The working group on Gender and Broadband has a three-pronged approach to increasing the number of women in ICT careers: firstly, to create demand among girls and women for careers in ICT; secondly, to ensure a better supply of science, technology, engineering and math education to girls and women; and thirdly, to achieve long-term sustainability by encouraging ICT businesses to attract, recruit, retain and promote women.
Careers International – Top Women Summit
Ericsson is a sponsor of the Top Women Summit held by Careers International. At the summit, participants have the opportunity to meet representatives from leading companies, personally discuss their career with top managers and international recruiters, network with a select group of future female leaders, and learn about the latest industry trends and career opportunities.
Connect To Learn
Ericsson collaborates with a variety of partners such as UN agencies, mobile operators, NGOs, academia and others who share our vision and can amplify the potential of ICT to progress socio-economic development. Ericsson is lead technology partner in Connect To Learn, an initiative with a specific focus on benefitting girls and their education needs. Since 2010, Connect To Learn has supported UNESCO's Education for All goals by deploying mobile broadband and cloud solutions, combined with hands-on training in ICT, to schools in 14 countries.
Girls in ICT
Ericsson marks "Girls in ICT Day" in April with events all over the globe, including seminars, workshops and campus visits. The focus of the day is to empower and encourage girls and young women to consider careers in ICT.
Ericsson supports Girl Hype in South Africa which provides fun, hand-on opportunities for girls and women to get engaged with technology.
Lesbians Who Tech
Ericsson sponsored the 2017 Lesbians Who Tech Summit which brings together lesbians, queer women and allies across all areas of technology. Reaffirming our commitment to women in tech, LGBTQ women and women of color.
Ericsson is a Bronze sponsor of Robogals – an international, student-run organization that aims to increase female participation in engineering, science and technology through fun and educational initiatives aimed at girls in primary and secondary school. Ericsson also sponsors three Robogals Excellence Scholarships.
Ericsson partners with Techno Girls programme to teach essential skills to young South African females by providing job shadowing opportunities.
Ericsson supports TechWomen, an initiative that empowers the next generation of women leaders in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) from Africa and the Middle East by providing them the access and opportunity needed to advance their careers and pursue their dreams.
The Girl Scouts of the USA
Ericsson funds programs with the Girl Scouts of the USA to promote technology literacy.
University of Texas at Dallas – scholarship program
Ericsson funds four scholarships at the University of Texas at Dallas for students with diverse backgrounds who are studying science, technology, engineering or mathematics.
Ericsson was honored as the Corporate Diversity Award recipient at the UT Dallas Diversity Awards.
Ericsson sponsors Watermark, a community of executive women who have risen to the top of their fields. They come together to connect, develop and advocate for the advancement of women in the workforce.
