Interim report shows doubling of mobile data. Subscribers and smartphones on the rise 2013-02-18 Categories: Reports Industry The latest interim update to the Ericsson Mobility Report highlights the continued rapid growth of connectivity. The report shows that data traffic doubled between Q4 2011 and Q4 2012, growing by 28 percent between Q3 and Q4 2012. It also showed a net gain of 140 million subscriptions globally (30 million of which were in China). During 2012, smartphones accounted for 40 percent of new mobile phone sales, compared with 30 percent in 2011. For several years, Ericsson has collected data from networks around the world.
