At Ericsson, we represent 167 nationalities based in 143 countries operating in 180 countries, and countless cultural influences. We bring our diversity of strengths together to transform the future of mobile, technology and communication. That’s why we’re proud to celebrate World Day for Cultural Diversity, an opportunity to deepen our understanding of the values of cultural diversity.

World Day of Cultural Diversity 2017 is all about conversations

Around the world, we host special events and initiatives to honor cultural differences in the workplace. We invite our employees to join in as we support awareness and appreciation of cultural diversity.

We celebrate World Day for Cultural Diversity the week before and after May 21:

  • To focus on the strength that cultural diversity brings to the workplace
  • As a tribute to our people from 167 nationalities that work across the Ericsson group
  • To support awareness and appreciation of cultural differences in the workplace
  • To continue to inspire an inclusive workplace

It's the ideas of our employees that set the tone of our cultural celebration. At Ericsson, diversity fuels our innovation. It's the fresh perspectives, new ideas, different ways of thinking that give us the capability to challenge conventions, see alternative solutions, to break new ground in global technology.

Ericsson is joining in the celebration for the third year, and we celebrate World Day for Cultural Diversity to confirm our belief in the strength that cultural diversity brings to the workplace, as a tribute to our people from 167 nationalities that work across the Ericsson group, to support awareness and appreciation of cultural differences in the workplace and to continue to inspire an inclusive workplace.

The UN especially highlights the role the ICT industry can play in terms of creating greater acceptance and recognition of cultural diversity as we are creating the foundation “through innovative use of media and Information and Communications Technologies” for dialogue, conversations and interactions across the entire globe.

“Conversations” will be a key ingredient in Ericsson’s celebrations this year under the theme “Start a cultural conversation” – and you are invited to share your story.

Our employees have been asked to join the “143-piece puzzle” campaign!

We aim to create a puzzle, preferably with all 143-pieces fitting together, but as this is our first attempt, we may not reach all the way. One person representing each of our 143 countries we have colleagues based in will together create a whole that makes us unique. This is mainly an internal campaign that is shared on our global intranet site and in our Global Diversity & Inclusion Yammer site, but a selection will be reposted on the Ericsson Careers social media channels. Keep an eye out for it!

The Career blog

The Ericsson Career blog will host several guest bloggers, sharing their experiences at Ericsson that has allowed them to learn about different cultures, whether that’s through travel, by working with colleagues around the globe, or by attending events that support inclusivity in the workplace. Stay tuned!

We want to thank our employees for helping us inspire inclusivity in all we do. Because, today, tomorrow, and always, we celebrate all that makes YOU + ERICSSON a powerful combination.
