Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) will demonstrate how it is shaping the Networked Society and turning great ideas into global realities at AfricaCom 2016, held at the Cape Town International Convention Center from November 15 to November 17.

Ericsson's experts will showcase a wide range of solutions as well as innovative partnerships geared towards unlocking new opportunities in the region. Ericsson's exhibition will be hosted in the Ericsson AHUB innovation station at AfricaCom, located in the ballroom on the first floor of the Cape Town International Convention Center.

In addition, Jean-Claude Geha, Head of Region sub-Saharan Africa, Ericsson, will deliver a keynote presentation sharing Ericsson's Vision for a Digital Africa on Tuesday, November 15 at 10:45. On the same day, Geha will also deliver the Welcome Address at the Ericsson AHUB at 11:30. On Wednesday, November 16, customers and honored guests will be hosted at an awards event to announce the winner of the annual Ericsson Innovation Awards for the sub-Saharan Africa region. The competition theme this year is the Future of Food.

Some of the Ericsson innovative solutions that can be experienced in the AHUB exhibition area at AfricaCom 2016 include:

  • Ericsson Radio System: This award winning solution is a modular system that enables mobile operators to address growth opportunities and transform their radio networks by leveraging a multi-standard, multi-band and multi-layer architecture, delivering industry-leading performance on the smallest site footprint with the lowest energy consumption. Ericsson Radio System has been designed to accommodate the mobile data traffic increases expected by 2020 at the same – or lower – energy consumption levels of today. This demo will be supported by a host of other components that make up part of the Ericsson Radio System such as the Outdoor E-band Microwave solution, the innovative LTE coverage for everyone, the small-cell backhaul, real site feel, site and power solution and innovative site blending.
  • Network Performance: To ensure great performance, networks have to be continuously upgraded, expanded and optimized. Ericsson will demonstrate solutions that provide the tools to enable efficient and high-performing networks, as a foundation to securing enhanced user experience.
IT and Cloud
  • Ericsson's hyperscale datacenter platforms: Software-defined infrastructure that is agile enough to seize emerging business opportunities for telecom as well as enterprise application workloads, and lean enough for drastically lower total cost of ownership (TCO). The solution provides comprehensive visibility across the entire datacenter, a single pane of glass to let you gain deeper and more wide-ranging insights into the asset utilization and operational efficiency of both legacy and hyperscale systems.
  • Ericsson Virtual Evolved Packet Core (vEPC): The solution perfectly integrates native function with cloud computing technology and provides flexibility for an operator to offer mobile broadband services with vEPC in a cost efficient way, addressing new customer segments. The demo will show how Ericsson vEPC not only keeps native EPC characteristics of high stability, high availability and security, but also takes full advantage of cloud computing flexibility and automation.
  • Wi-Fi calling for multi-device and Enriched Voice-over-LTE: Ericsson will present the latest consumer and enterprise communication services, together with major device vendors.
  • IoT Enterprise: Ericsson will be demonstrating how it can deliver value via solutions that can be replicated with little or no effort across multiple verticals, using data to enhance them and generate new revenue streams and ultimately move to the fully automated world of IoT.
  • Expert Analytics: This solution, which builds on the principle of continuous real-time pre-analysis, continuously analyzes data as it enters the analytics environment, creating insights.
  • Revenue and Customer Management solutions: These solve billing and charging challenges, with the functionality to increase both revenues and customers in the Networked Society.
  • MediaFirst TV Platform: is a software-defined, media-optimized platform for the creation, management and delivery of next generation Pay TV. This end-to-end cloud-based platform embraces all content sources and delivery networks, equipping operators to deliver cutting-edge large scale video services to the billions of devices forecast to be connected by 2020
  • Transformed Transport: Ericsson will be demonstrating how transportation systems can be transformed into connected, cooperative and automated ecosystems.
  • Public Safety: Ericsson's public safety networks and national security technologies offer greater speed, efficiency and reliability. These solutions can offer government authorities immediate and augmented response in a multimedia world.
  • Connected Farm: Demonstrating the real time monitoring and control of a farm’s irrigation system; atmospheric pressure, temperature, humidity, wind speed and direction. Sensor readings provide soil moisture from selected depths.
