MiO 5.0 is the latest cloud independent version of Ericsson’s single or combined messaging services deployed as a fully virtualized network function (VNF) or virtualized application.
MiO 5.0 can address standard and customized messaging needs. It provides enhancements through additional security, robustness, and deployment flexibility due to its cloud oriented design. Operators and IT departments benefit through reduced cost of ownership with a cloud-ready VNF solution that can potentially be integrated on any cloud platform.
Messaging (Voicemail, MMS and SMS) remains a key aspect of an operators business. From business and high ARPU users who demand a rich feature set to users for whom cost is the most important issue, operators have to succeed in a diverse market place.
In general, messaging applications still generate traffic whilst revenues are flattening. At the same time where smartphones and “app stores” making the threat from “Over The Top” players a reality while mobile spam and abuse are happening in some parts of the globe.
To counter that, operator’s demand messaging products that lower CAPEX and OPEX, and provide value to counter these external competitors. Hence the reason why running messaging applications in virtual/cloud environments is vital for an operator.
A significant opportunity exists for operators to realize this vision by harmonizing their messaging solution and offering. Consolidation of messaging services will give end users many new and compelling reasons to prefer usage of their operators bundled messaging capabilities, helping to stabilize revenues while reducing operational costs at the same time.
Our innovative Messaging In One (MiO) applications, tools, enablers and API's give you the opportunity to maintain your current messaging services as well as using them in unique combinations with other services. This results in revenue protection and optimization, but also demonstrates the high flexibilty and adaptability of our Messaging in One application.
End users value choosing from a wide range of feature rich messaging solutions which are easy to use and control from their mobile device. New innovative messaging offerings with compelling features such as visual voicemail on their smartphone and the ability to highly personalize will be instrumental in creating end user operator preferences and drive usage growth and satisfaction.
With Messaging In One, operators will be able to exceed end users expectations of today and still in the future.
The combination of standard messaging services on a single, integrated hardware platform or cloud infrastructure (e.g.Ericsson CEE, Opentack, VMware, etc.) reduces operational costs such as operations personnel, power consumption and footprint, significantly. Typically, operators have reported reductions of up to 40% annually in the past years, but if using a cloud infrastructure to host more services, customers are expected to save even more money over time.
Differentiate your offering
By leveraging the rich feature sets available in MiO,our operators can provide end users with compelling reasons to depend on their messaging solutions and drive down churn rates. The goal being to still develop and offer solutions to help end-users rely on traditional and universal messaging solutions.
