    The Ericsson MX8400 system multiplexer is at the center of Ericsson's Multi-Platform Headend architecture, meeting the needs of IP distribution infrastructures, together with robustness suitable for mission-critical applications.  The MX8400 is ideal for a wide range of multiplexing and re-multiplexing applications, including primary multiplexing in headends for DTH satellite, contribution and distribution systems, as well as applications in cable and terrestrial central headends.

    The MX8400 also introduces a new concept in multiplexing, by being able to support up to eight independent multiplex output transport streams, allowing for greater flexibility and for future system expansion. Combined with powerful stream processing and the Reflex™ Statistical Multiplexing System, the MX8400 is the flexible heart of any MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 AVC SD/HD based broadcast system.


    • Offers a fully redundant architecture in combination with nCompass Control by Ericsson, which enables implementation of cost-effective and resilient system architectures; MX8400 supports redundant external clocks, Data, CA and Control ports.  The MX8400 supports IGMPv3 to further simplify system design.
    • With the ability to support up to eight independent multiplexed output transport streams, customers can start with a limited number of multiplexers, adding additional multiplexers as needed, resulting in reduced infrastructure costs and simplified system design.
    • Provides maximum utilization of available bit-rate through the Reflex Statistical Multiplexing System. Supports MPEG-2 SD and HD, MPEG-4 AVC SD and HD.
    • Built-in DVB CA scrambling within the product allows content protection when needed.
    • MX8400 multiplexers are fully integrated with Ericsson's industry-leading system management applications, which combine ease-of-use with advanced control and monitoring capabilities.
